Each variety softens a little differently, so we include ripening tips with your box to take out the guesswork. Please be kind and don’t stab it with a toothpick or poke your thumb into the flesh.

Yes! We grow more than 30 varieties, so your membership includes a rotating mix throughout the year. Some months you’ll get creamy Fuertes, others giant Reeds, and of course Hass when it’s in season. Every box is a discovery.

It depends on the variety. Hass and Lamb Hass darken as they ripen, while greenskins like Fuerte and Reed stay green even when perfectly soft and ready to eat. Don’t worry—we give you variety-specific guidance so you always know what to look for.

To ripen faster, keep them on the counter in a paper bag with an apple or banana. To slow things down, move fruit into the refrigerator. When you have “too” many avocados, place a ⅓ in the fridge, ⅓ in the ripening bag and ⅓ on your kitchen counter. Once ripe move to the refrigerator where it will hold for a few extra days.
